Clinical RadiologyBody ImagingFaculty General Information
Yale Body Imaging specializes in imaging disorders of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. With experts in magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, and fluoroscopy, the section is committed to teaching at the graduate and post-graduate levels while delivering high quality clinical care. The breadth of experience among the faculty is reflected in the wide range of academic pursuits enjoyed by the section, ranging from evaluation of novel ultrasonic contrast agents to quantification of liver fibrosis in an animal model. Funded research projects are underway in a variety of areas including peripheral CT angiography, coronary calcium scoring and coronary CT angiography, CT colonography, and evaluation of novel MR contrast agents. The Body Imaging section provides services to Yale-New Haven Hospital, the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in West Haven, and the Long Wharf Medical Center and YNHH Shoreline Medical Center in Guilford, respectively. In addition to teaching Yale Medical students and Diagnostic Radiology residents, the section hosts four abdominal imaging fellowship positions that rotate through ultrasound, body CT, body MR, and musculoskeletal MR. An additional fellowship position is available in body MRI. The section offers two intradepartmental conferences each week where interesting/difficult cases are shown as a catalyst for discussion of topics and controversies in abdominal imaging. A weekly teaching conference is also held for the abdominal imaging fellows and residents where advanced topics in abdominal imaging are presented in a didactic forum. A conference focused on topics in ultrasound is also held weekly, in conjunction with the ultrasound technologists. Section faculty also participate in seven multidisciplinary conferences each week on topics ranging from gastrointestinal cancer to surgical morbidity and mortality. |
