Yale Radiology & Biomedical Imaging is pleased to offer our residents a 4-week away-elective in the beautiful country of Tanzania during one of their fourth year mini-fellowship rotations. Yale Radiology & Biomedical Imaging will cover the cost of round-trip airfare and housing in Tanzania for the duration of the rotation. This is a unique opportunity for our residents to experience the practice of radiology in a resource-limited setting, while boosting the radiology workforce of Tanzania through teaching sessions with the radiology residents at the Muhimbili National Hospital. Tanzania currently has 50 radiologists for a population of 55 million people, Yale Radiology & Biomedical Imaging residents can help increase both the number and quality of radiologists in Tanzania through teaching and collaboration.
Currently two groups of two residents will travel to Tanzania for an away elective per academic year. Electives are organized in 4-week blocks and typically timed in the months of October/November and February/March.
